GUJRANWALA: When the government had approved the the construction of a district government’s parking plaza on GT Road in Gujranwala in 2014, its estimated cost was Rs270 million.

As the construction was done at a slow pace, the 11-storey plaza is still incomplete and now its cost has increased to Rs490 million, according to reports.

The city district government started construction of the parking plaza to facilitate the vehicle owners, and it was to be built in one year (2015). The first two storeys were for offices and shops and the remaining nine for the parking of vehicles.

The plaza was to be ready by March 30, 2015, but its deadline was extended to March 30, 2016.

The delay increased estimated cost from Rs270 million to Rs490 million.

District Coordination Officer Muhammad Aamir Jan ordered an inquiry into the delay, but the inquiry report is also suffering delays.
