ABBOTTABAD: The charred body of a teenage girl was found in a torched Suzuki van in Donga Gali, in Abbottabad district, on Friday.
According to police, the body was tied to the seat of the vehicle, which was parked at a bus stop in Makol village of Donga Gali. Another vehicle parked near the gutted van was also damaged.
Police removed the body to Ayub Medical Complex for autopsy.
The girl was later identified as Ambreen, 16, daughter of Riasat, a labourer who works in Balochistan’s Gadani area.
A police official told Dawn that the fire on the bus had occurred at 3a.m.
“We have little information about the episode for now because the policemen sent to the scene of the crime have yet to return from the remote village,” the official added. The place is about 20 kilometres from the police station concerned.
The Abbottabad DPO has constituted an investigation team, comprising a superintendent of police (SP) and two DSPs, to probe the killing. Initially police registered an FIR against “unknown culprits”, but later the owner of the vehicle in which the body was found himself approached police to file an FIR.
