LAHORE: Sixteen teams are featuring in the first Malik Mehdi Hussain Memorial All-Pakistan Basketball Gold Cup which commences at the Rangers Headquarters here on Sunday (today).

Unfolding details of the event, organising committee chairman retired Major Gen Hussain Mehdi, who is also an international basketball player, along with Pakistan Basketball Federation secretary Khalid Bashir said the teams had been divided into four groups.

The teams are Army, Pakistan Air Force, Rangers, Police, Higher Education Commission, Wapda, Railways, and divisional teams of Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Kohat and Hazara.

Hussain said he was organising the tournament in memory of his late father.
