LAHORE: Qualifier Faraz Mohammad upset Khawaja Adil Maqbool as the main round of the 4th FMC International Men’s Squash Championships started at the Punjab Squash Complex here on Wednesday.
Faraz, who had defeated Aaqib Hanif in the qualifying round, the other day, maintained his winning streak by upsetting Khawaja Adil 11-8, 3-11, 11-8, 5-11, 13-11 (3-2) after see-saw proceedings.
In another hot battle, Amaad Fareed stretched to five games in 63 minutes to carve out a well-deserving 7-11, 12-10, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9 victory against Asim Khan.
Top seed Farhan Zaman had an easy sailing against Abbas Maniar. After making a sluggish start, Farhan regained his composure and won the remaining three games to wrap up the match 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-3.
In the shortest match of the day, Israr Ahmad proved too good for M. Farhan completing a 3-0 win in 10 minutes. The score was 11-4, 11-1, 11-0.
Qualifier Raees Khan moved to the next round after beating Abbas Shaukat 11-9, 11-4, 11-8. The match lasted 28 minute.
Tayyab Aslam overcame qualifier Waqas Mehboob 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7.
Farhan Mehboob defeated Zahir Shah 11-7, 11-6, 11-6 in 25 minutes.
Raees Khan had to dig deep to beat Abbas Shaukat 11-9, 11-4, 11-8.
