THE Karakorum Highway, built with the co-operation of our friend China, makes easy approach to Islamabad from Gilgit.

Skardu is visited by local as well as international tourists.

But the road which links Gilgit to Skardu is in poor shape and it becomes worse during rains.

People are scared of this road for it looks dangerous and accidents are common. The people of Skardu, however, have no other choice but to travel on this road as there is no alternative.

The government pays no attention to this road.

The people of the area demand reconstruction of the road so that they may have a safe, secure and comfortable journey.
