ISLAMABAD: A four-member Pakistan contingent took off for Taiwan on Monday to participate in the Asian Senior Squash Championship.
Talking to APP, Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) vice-president Qamar Zaman said the championship will be played from May 11 to 16.
“As many as four players will be representing Pakistan in the event,” he said. “The four-member Pakistan team includes Farhan Zaman, Farhan Mehboob, Israr-ul-Hasan and Tayab Aslam while the officials accompanying them are Fahim Gul (coach) and Aamir Nawaz (team manager),” he said.
Qamar said he had high expectations from the players.
“The players have worked very hard in the training camp,” he said.
He added that players from nine countries will be seen in action in the mega event.
Returning to the PSF affairs, he said the PSF is in talks with the Professional Squash Association (PSA) to host a $50,000 tournament.
“I am more than hopeful that PSF will be granted a $50,000 tournament very soon,” he said.
