GWADAR: Three government officials and a contractor were kidnapped from Dasht area of Kech district late Sunday night.
According to sources, Fida Ahmed, a sub-divisional officer in the road and building department, and Mohammad Ibrahim and Rahim Jan, sub-engineers of the irrigation department, accompanied by contractor Mehboob Dashti, were returning to Turbat after inspecting development projects in a nearby area.
When they reached Dasht area, armed men riding a pick-up intercepted them and took them away.
Personnel of the Frontier Corps and other law enforcement agencies mounted a search for the kidnapped men and their abductors but could not find them.
On the directives of the chief minister’s inspection team, sources said, the three officials had conducted inspection of development projects undertaken between 2008 and 2013.
