ISLAMABAD: The opposition walked out of the National Assembly after Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah rejected the prime minister’s speech and said that it has created more confusion rather than solving any issue.
The leaders of opposition parties then addressed a press conference outside the parliament and explained their viewpoint before the people through media.
The leader of opposition said, "We asked seven innocent questions and wanted similar replies, but the prime minister's speech made these seven into 70."
While talking to media, Shah repeated that prime minister's speech consisted of such details which were not even part of the seven questions asked by the opposition.
"We thought Nawaz would simply offer explanation about offshore firms and his London flats, but we were again made to hear stories about Jeddah and Dubai," Shah criticised.
Therefore, the opposition walked out of the parliament since “we did not wish to waste the nation's time by resorting to useless speeches”, as the best judge of Nawaz's speech are the people of Pakistan, Shah said.
PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said, “Nawaz Sharif deliberately ignored the question about the ownership of the flats in London and the money used to purchase the said property.”
PTI chairman Imran Khan said, “Nawaz Sharif did not need to deliver such a long speech and could have simply showed the documents regarding the possession of the offshore company.”
Showing some documents to media, Imran claimed “the first flat was bought in 1993, the second and third were bought in 1995, the fourth was bought in 1996 and fifth in 2004”.
Responding to the prime minister’s claim that he was not directly named in Panama papers, Imran showed Nawaz's tax returns claiming that “The papers say PM's daughter Maryam Nawaz is dependant on him, and the 'dependant' owns two offshore firms.”
"How can a dependant own such huge amount of money to buy offshore firms, as Maryam owns two. This means it was Nawaz's money," maintained Imran.
The opposition leaders then announced to meet at 10am on Tuesday to discuss the future strategy.

Now opposition is just being opposition for the sake of opposition. Nawaz Sharif has thoroughly replied all the 7 question without being a school boy enumerating question number and answer. That is much more than what the opposition had asked for. On the other hand, the PM has made every single person of the country answerable about his money-matters that non of the opposition would like to agree ever. Enough is now more than enough. Let all leaders of fortune answer their own questions repeated to the NAB and FBR etc.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif you say you believe in democracy but you're ignoring accountability? You have "failed" to address the parliament truthfully, about your family's secret Panama accounts and huge overseas properties, therefore you are guilty of corruption?
PM Nawaz Sharif if you're innocent then you must give full details of your family's wealth forthwith (which violated Election Commission declaration) you acquired during two previous tenures as the prime minister? The people of Pakistan demand accountability of public office holders. No prime minister can be above the law.

Brilliant speech. The opposition is in tatters. Very sad to note that every word that comes out of Imran's mouth is a lie. No one is disputing his purchase or sale of flat in London. What is being questioned is the offshore company he formed, then did not disclose it, then he made a confession that he did so to avoid tax which is morally wrong, and then he did not disclose his off shore company as his asset on declaration form of the election board for which he should be dis qualified. Shameless creature.

The opposition's walkout is the second big blow to NS. The first one was CJ's recent refusal to form a toothless commission. NS is being slapped around pretty hard these days, I must say.

Can't understand such a idiotic move from the opposition. You had an opportunity to question or cross examine the PMs speech, they all failed. Not really surprised, they didn't know what they were doing in power now as a mass of dolts they failed to accomplish anything yet again.

Corruption can be eradicated only if corrupts are sentenced and the looted money including loss is taken back.
I think that all the members of national and provincial assemblies from 1985 till now inform the assets they have now and in 1980 and now. Burden of proof must be on them to establish the present status of their wealth including their children and front men. Only one week is given to them to disclose their assets and three four weeks to establish their assets.their names must be on ecl. Those who died investigation is easy.
Corrupts and looters be made example.
I think only two three months are enough.
There are many other ideas but I wish Pakistan be corript free and only merits prevail.

Avoiding tax is morally wrong? I guess everyone is guilty then...putting money in tax efficient investments and leasing vehicles rather than purchasing to reduce taxable income and profit must be labelled a crime and all companies should be tried in court...
You are mistaking 'evasion' with 'avoidance'...taking a long route to 'avoid' a toll taxed bridge is not wrong...going over the bridge and 'evading' the authority charging you the toll is a crime...

Imran Khan is very knowdelgeable. However, its beyond me that he decided not to ask specific documents he wanted when he was offered in Parliament, and rather wanted to created a situation outside parialiment.
Secondly, he probably also knows that several CEOs in the world running large firms take one dollar or minimal salary. Most CEOs packages are more ownership oriented than salary oriented.
Either probably knows all that, but want to excite the poor youth by this talk. Hope he can come back to being honest. Otherwise it will be a sad thing for the country.

The opposition playing the real role of opposition for once? Is democracy slowly coming to PK, a democracy that is accountable to its people and not the party "owners"? Will have to wait and see. PML strategy is always blame others and then change the subject and divert attention. I think Mr Raheel may have to intervene and setup an independent yet empowered commission for the betterment of the country. I will repeat: PML cannot be in charge of investigating themselves.Who cares what NS has to say, let the impartial investigation begin.

Options are limited. Choice is less corrupt. If you are referring to IK offshore company then you might have been confused by propaganda machine of NS.
Having offshore company is neither unethical nor illegal .
The problem is corruption. Money trails should be available and tax evasion should not be there. There is difference between tax savings and tax evasions.
IK paid taxes in UK once and wanted to save tax to be paid again when he would sell the apartment

Khan could have played more effective role inside parliament . Opposition parties , and specially some individuals hijacked the day and provided safe passage to Mawaz Sharif . He dilivered his complete speech and made everyone heard but when time came for opposition they left for nothing . What they said outside parliament , they could said inside the parliament where they could put ruling party inmtrouble .

It was planned walkout and opposition wants to bring people on roads and ultimately army will take over. This is what opposition wants because under army control they have bright chances to share power. A very poor decision by the opposition.

In Pakistani politics everyone is loser, there are no winners, and never will be one. Reason, after 68 years we still cannot stand on own two feet, we are a grossly dependent nation, a winner amongst beggars is still a beggar. We do not consider ourselves worthy of respect, so how can we expect others to show us respect. Others have gone ahead, and we have gone back. We build a mammoth parliament house with plush interiors, only to hear rubbish, from both ends!!!. Waste of time, well said. Can our politicians not see other neighborhood countries going ahead of us, in much shorter period of time. Which world do we live in ???

Did anyone notice that the broadcast was terminated as soon as the speaker asked IK to speak...interestingly the same thing happened a few weeks ago...may be the opposition is getting wise to the tactics.
