KARACHI: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at Karachi University (KU) on Sunday for the establishment of a library to be named after noted scholar and former KU vice chancellor Dr Jamil Jalibi who would donate 100,000 books and historical academic manuscripts to the facility.

“It’s a priceless gift for the university from Dr Jamil Jalibi which will greatly help in research and elevate intellectual level of students,” KU vice chancellor Prof Mohammad Qaiser said at the ceremony for the signing of the MoU at his office.

On his father’s behalf, Dr Mohammad Khawar Jamil who is chairman of Export Processing Zone, said the library would meet all the needs of modern day research and have a state-of-the-art infrastructure and resource center. “It’s a great moment for me to announce establishment of the library on KU campus in the fulfillment of my father’s desire,” he said.
