GUJAR KHAN/ATTOCk: As many as 12 people were killed in separate accidents in Gujar and Attock on Monday.

In the first incident, seven people were killed and 13 others seriously injured when a Rawalpindi-bound van rammed into a roadside tree near Missa Kaswal, about 10 kilometres from Gujar Khan city, on Monday morning.

According to Rescue 1122, the driver of the van coming from Lala Musa lost control due to the dislocation of its shaft and hit the tree along G.T. Road.

As a result, Meer Hassan, Luqman Riaz, Mohammad Arshad, Mohammad Naveed, Muqadas Khan and Rehmat Khan died on the spot while Mohammad Hafeez succumbed to his injuries on way to a hospital in Rawalpindi.

The names of the seriously injured passengers are Omer, Mohammad Saleem, Waqar Ahmed, Waleed, Waseem, Yasir, Munawar Hussain, Mohammad Sadiq and Faiz Rasool. Three of the injured have been shifted to Rawalpindi.

In the other accident, five people, including three women, were killed on Pindi Kohat Road, about 50 kilometres from Attock.

According to police and hospital sources, a passenger van coming from Rawalpindi collided head-on with a trailer near Mithial Chowk. As a result, five people – a man, three women and a baby girl – died on the spot while 10 others were injured.

The bodies and the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Jand.
