ROAD REPAIR: Dejected by the performance of elected representatives and district administration, the residents of Matta Mughalkhel started collecting donations from local people to repair the Matta road on self-help basis.

The residents, led by Qari Shafiullah and councillor Ziaur Rehman, collected about Rs35,000 to fill ditches and ponds created by flood and heavy traffic. However, later the elected representatives stopped them from collecting donation and assured them of providing funds for the purpose.

DEMAND: Qaumi Watan Party’s overseas coordinator for Gulf countries Iqbal Wadood has demanded of the government to set up Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Overseas Pakistani Commission for solution of problems being faced by Pakhtuns working in foreign countries.

He said that QWP’s central organisation of overseas Pakistanis had been formed in UAE in 2012 and similar organisations would soon be set up in Kuwait and Malaysia.

He regretted that many Pakhtuns were languishing in jails in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries for minor offences. He asked the Pakistani embassy in Saudi Arabia to play its role in release of the workers.
