Bakers recreate art on cakes!
Artist Nastasja Chernogrivova and confectioner Vitaly Mozkovoy, from St Petersburg, Russia, combine their talents to create cakes with an artistic edge. Mr Mozkovoy creates the cakes while Miss Chernogrivova decorates the icing.
She uses different jams and other condiments to recreate masterpieces by the likes of Chagall, Van Gogh, Renoir and Korovin.
Almost every one of them is different and she rarely repeats a design which makes them even more in demand. The cakes take her between 15 minutes and several hours, depending on the complexity of the design.
They are open to requests — but one thing they will not do is paint portraits of the recipients on birthday cakes.
A pizza box made of pizza!
A Brooklyn pizzeria developed a delicious and ecologically-friendly alternative to cardboard pizza boxes by creating a box made entirely out of pizza.
Vinnie’s Pizzeria shared a photo of the unique, edible box showing the small circular pizza inside a larger square shaped pizza.
“Introducing The PIZZA BOX PIZZA! A pizza box made entirely out of pizza! No waste, 100 per cent pizza and 100 per cent delicious,” they wrote.
Co-owner Sean Berthiaume that the pizza box which includes a second pizza, will be available for order and delivery for $40.
He added that the restaurant is still determining how to deliver the pizza without putting it in a cardboard box and have been wrapping it in aluminium foil, among other methods.
Giant ball pool for employees
A company has decided to make life a little bit better for their employees — by building a giant ball pool in Manchester, to increase the creativity of their staff and reduce anxiety.
Jeremy Dee, managing director of Swizzels, said he made the move to install the ball pool to add some fun to their working day. He said: “As our employees work very hard we wanted to do something a little bit different to help everyone have a bit of fun during the working day. The giant ball pool has got over 25,000 pink, yellow and white balls in it.”
The firm, which manufactures a range of classic sweets including Love Hearts and Drumstick Lollies, said the ball pool had proved to be a hit so far, since it was installed at the start of the month.
Mr Dee added: ‘People have said it has taken them back to their childhood and that they go back into the factory much more energised for the remainder of their shift.’
Selfie stick shuts down Disney California Adventure rollercoaster
A roller coaster at Disney’s California Adventure was shut down for more than an hour after a rider was seen carrying a selfie stick.
The Anaheim Disneyland’s California Screamin’ Rollercoaster was stopped in the middle of the tracks for more than an hour just before the drop when park staff noticed the selfie stick on the ride.
In May of 2015, several signs were seen posted at Disney parks warning that selfie sticks were prohibited on rides such as Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain.
“We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and unfortunately selfie sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast,” Director of Media Relations for Disneyland Resort Suzi Brown told.
