KARACHI: The opening ceremony for the 23rd National Shooting Championship was held at Pakistan Navy Shooting Range, Karsaz here on Saturday.

Air Vice Marshal Salman Ahsan Bukhari, Air Officer Commanding Southern Air Command, was the chief guest on the occasion.

In his address, the chief guest appreciated the efforts of the National Rifle Association of Pakistan for promoting the sport at national and international level.

The Pakistan Air Force is hosting the championship, which will culminate on May 28.

Around 250 shooters from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federal Rifle Association, HEC, and Tri Services will feature in the championship.

Competitions will be held in four different categories of 50m , 25m, 10m and shotgun range.

The championship will be conducted as per international standards in different gun categories of rifles, pistols and shotguns. Male and female shooters of different age groups from all over Pakistan will be competing for honours in 22 individual and team events.
