CHARSADDA: Bomb disposal unit personnel on Monday defused two remote-controlled bombs planted by unknown miscreants near the police lines here.

Charsadda DPO Suhail Khalid told media persons that vehicles at the police lines were the apparent target of the miscreants to create panic and fear among people. However, he said timely action by the police thwarted the sabotage attempt.

He said a search operation was launched soon after the incident and two suspected persons were arrested, who were shifted to unknown location for interrogation.

In a statement, bomb disposal unit AIG Shafqat Malik said the BDU defused two improvised explosive devices planted as primary and secondary devices.

He said the primary IED was remote-controlled weighing three kg, while secondary IED weighing five kg was also connected with a time device.
