Pakistan’s star all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, who is suffering from a knee injury that he picked up earlier this year during the Asia Cup T20, is unlikely to travel next month to England.
Hafeez’s medical report states his knee condition as ‘unsatisfactory’. But the Pakistan Cricket Board will make a final decision on the star cricketer’s selection for the tour next week, after he retakes the tests.
Earlier, Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq had named Hafeez in the 21-men list for the skill camp.
Hafeez picked up the knee injury during the Asia Cup T20 earlier this year. The 35-year-old, however, toured India for the ICC World T20 where he aggravated his condition and was left out in the matches against New Zealand and Australia.
The right-handed batsman has been exempted from the national side’s ongoing physical training programme at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul, Abbottabad.
It has been learnt that PCB officials are pondering over the prospect of sending Hafeez abroad for medical treatment, if he is unable to recover.

Of course he's doubtful for ENG tour. When he can't face Steyn's mininal swing on placid UAE decks then how will he spend even a minute in the conditions where the bowlers lands the ball outside leg stump so that it takes the edge towards the 3 or 4th slip.

Also chances of Yasir Shah making the tour don't look too bright either.

Look at the way they written Star Al rounder this is really amaze me an ordinary cricketer whose record on seaming wickets is very very very ordinary and we are worried about him to be fit for this tour,, that's a good news for Pakistan cricket otherwise he would play another 10 years and then you have to search Pakistan cricket team in the ranking with microscope...

@Murtaza Mandviwala Im afraid you dont know what youre talking about. If he cant play a moving ball, can anybody else? The rest are all cafe batsmen, England are amazing at the moment, and I cant see them losing a single match. Simply too good.

What a great doctor who saved Hafeez from embarrassment by issuing him a medical certificate. Doctors like these save students from sitting hard exam Hafeez has an average of 4 in England and 400 in the UAE.

This chap has been a disappointment for his fellow cricketers and for the game. Over rated and under performed, at 35 he should make way for a 22 year old...Thank you Mr. Hafeez..this slippery act of slipping out of a tour that is going to go down as " The Revenge of the English" would not safe your skin. Good bye..you can grow your beard a foot taller than Shekhar Dhawan or Virat Kholi but you would need twice the talent and a miracle to play any format on any surface..rest in peace and heal your ego

Hafeez wants to remain unfit for next 3 months because he knows that if goes to play in England his batting will be exposed, he can't play well good fast bowlers specially when they swing the ball

There is nothing like a good hater and those commenting here are full of it. But guess what? None of the other opening/No.3 batsmen named in the squad will fare any better against Anderson and Broad. Be prepared for the worst, as is befalling the rebuilding, hapless Sri Lankans.
