HYDERABAD: Civil society activists on Tuesday held a protest demonstration against the killing of a 16-year-old woman after alleged sexual assault on her in Khipro town of Sanghar district a day earlier.

Carrying placards inscribed with slogans for justice, they held the demonstration outside the local press club.

Speaking to them, Advocate Bhagchand Bheel, Kirshna Kumari, Mukesh Meghwar and others said that the victim member of the Bheel community had gone into the farmland in Kiria Colony of Khipro town on Monday where she was sexually assaulted and then shot dead.

They accused a young man, said to be the son of a police constable, of being the culprit. They said that the suspect was detained following registration of a case at the Khipro police station but police were weakened the case under pressure to ensure his release. They demanded justice and exemplary punishment to the culprit.
