SANGHAR: A man, Ghulam Jeelani, allegedly shot his son, Javed Jeelani, and daughter-in-law, Shabana Jeelani, before committing suicide with the same gun in Shahenshah Colony within the city on Wednesday, police quoting their relatives said.

The couple was rushed to the Sanghar Civil Hospital from where the woman was shifted to a Nawabshah hospital and her husband to a Karachi hospital due to their critical condition. However, Shabana succumbed to her wounds at the Nawabshah hospital.

Sanghar DSP Ishtiaque Arain told Dawn that Ghulam Jeelani and his were at odds over some family property issue for long. The officer believed that the same issue might have led to the tragedy.

He said the crime weapon was seized and an investigation from different angles was started. He doubted that Ghulam Jeelani had killed himself as was claimed by the victims’ relatives and neighbours.
