KOHAT: An elite force policeman was injured in a grenade attack during exchange of fire with proclaimed offenders in Kot area here on Wednesday.
A statement issued here from the office of district police officer, Kohat, said that Bilitang police raided a hideout of PO in Kot village for his arrest. It claimed that when the police was raiding the area the PO and his accomplices started firing at the police party. They also hurled a hand grenade at the party as a result of which police constable Nasir Shah was injured.
The offender, Amin Jan, escaped in the nearby forest. However, his alleged harbourrers Laal Khan and Zind Khan had been arrested. The police registered a case against them and have launched operation for the arrest of the fleeing PO.
In another raid, the Ustarzai police arrested two proclaimed offenders in Mitha Khan area on Wednesday. They were identified as Anwar Jan alias Toru and Javed Khan. The police allegedly seized one rifle, two pistols and two kilogrammes of hashish from them.
The police also arrested 20 suspects in their routine operation.
BLOOD DONOR DAY: The World Blood Donor Day went unnoticed in Kohat and no camp was organised on Tuesday (June 14) by the government and civil welfare organisations due to Ramazan and unawareness among the people.
Ittefaq Welfare Organisation chairman Esar Bangash in a statement on Wednesday regretted that the welfare organisations failed to hold any blood camp.
He said that reason for it was Ramazan when people were afraid of donating blood. He said that the patients of thalassaemia and their attendants would have to run from pillar to post to get blood.
Meanwhile, the newly-appointed assistant director of anti-corruption for Kohat, Hangu and Karak Asalm Nawaz said that the people should inform him about corruption without any fear. In a statement issued here, the assistant director after assuming charge said that it was his duty was to check corruption in government departments.
Mr Nawaz also assured protection to those providing information about the corrupt elements.
