DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A CTD official was shot dead while a bank guard was injured when unknown motorcyclists opened fire on them in the Dera city here on Wednesday.

DPO Yasar Afridi said Hawaldar Tariq Jamshed of CTD was shot dead by two assailants riding a motorcycle as he reached the main gate of a bank located at Fawara Chowk after withdrawing cash from it. A bank guard, Mohammad Ramazan, was also injured in the firing.

The police officer said Jamashid, 38, was a dedicated police official and was active against a militant group. He didn’t rule out the involvement of an outlawed militant outfit in the killing of the policeman. He said the victim had been informed about threats to his life.

The attackers managed to escape after the incident.
