KARACHI: Scores of actors, singers and producers have demanded that the Sindh government provide them security because they feel threatened after the recent murder of renowned qawwal Amjad Sabri.

The artists, mostly associated with the television industry and led by singer Fakhr-e-Alam, submitted an application to the Defence police station SHO which warned that they would hold the provincial government responsible if any member of the fraternity came under attack.

“We have received the application which was signed by 62 artists,” Inspector Orangzeb Khattak, the station house officer, said. “It’s not the area police’s domain to decide about security for any individual neither have we the capacity to provide security to such a large number of people. We will forward their request to the higher authorities for directives.”
