SUKKUR: Police and other security agencies claimed to have made fool-proof arrangements for the security of processions and other programmes scheduled for observing Yaum-i-Ali falling on Ramazan 21, on Monday.

In connection to maintain the law and order in Jacobabad, police staged a flag march on Sunday.

According to reports, the flag march, led by Jacobabad SSP Sajid Hussain Khokhar, was attended by a large number of police contingents and Rangers personnel. They patrolled on all the roads of Jacobabad city.

SSP Khokhar told reporters that Jacobabad district was very sensitive as it existed on the borders of Sindh and Balochistan.

He said the security arrangements here had been made very strict keeping in view the terror incident which took place in Jacobabad on Muharram 9 previous year during which lives of innocent people were lost and many others were injured.

He said that at least 20 Majlis would be held in the district while four processions would be taken out. For their security, 114 police officers would be assigned responsibility who would be accompanied by Rangers personnel.

The SSP said that police kept watch on all activities and movement of every person at railway station, bus stand and restaurants and hotels. People and vehicles were being checked at entrance and exit points of Jacobabad.

He said strict security arrangements had been made outside the sensitive Imam Bargahs to avoid any untoward incident, he added.

MIRPURKHAS: Security arrangements were finalised by the district administration of Mirpurkhas on Sunday for Yaum-i-Ali to observe the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA) on Monday.

Special arrangements have been made by police while patrolling of law enforcement agencies have also been intensified.

Additional police personnel were deputed particularly in sensitive areas and Jawans were deployed on the way of processions and surrounding their traditional routes.

Security of the Imam Bargahs concerned has been beefed up keep a watch on miscreants.
