LAHORE: PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has demanded action against Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai under Article 6 for violating the Constitution and oath he has taken as an MNA.
“Achakzai, who is Nawaz Sharif’s ally, has violated the Constitution and oath to the National Assembly by speaking against the security and solidarity of Pakistan. Action should be initiated against him under Article 6 because this is a matter of security of Pakistan and all patriotic parties and persons cannot tolerate this,” he told a press conference here on Sunday.
Mr Elahi said Pakistan had played a great role in Afghan war and accommodated three million Afghan refugees for 37 years.
“The statement of Achakzai in which he said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) belongs to Afghans amounts to treason. Showing hostility towards Pakistan by not condemning attack on the Ziarat residence of the Quaid-i-Azam and criticising Pak army and Pakistan over Pathankot is not acceptable to any patriotic person,” he said.
The PML-Q added that the Pak-Afghan international border was recognised by the entire world.
“The United Nations also had declared Afghans who migrated to Pakistan after the Russian occupation as refugees because Durand Line was the international border.”
Pervaiz Elahi said it had been clearly written in the oath to the National Assembly that a member “will bear true faith and allegiance to Pakistan and always work for security, solidarity and prosperity of the country but Achakzai’s statement is tantamount to breaking of Pakistan although his two brothers Majeed Khan Achakzai and Hameed Khan Achakzai are both MPAs, one brother-in-law Spozemai Achakzai is an MNA and the other Hassan Manzoor is DIG motorway police”.
The PML-Q leader said Achakzai seemed to be speaking the language of Delhi and Kabul and the silence of PML-N over this matter was quite meaningful.
“Achakzai’s statement reflects the mindset of Nawaz government. Nawaz Sharif gets FIR registered in Pathankot attack in Gujranwala and his ally declares KP that of Afghans.”
Replying to a question, Mr Elahi said poor pensioners were being pushed outside the banks ahead of Eid while the prime minister and his family were doing shopping in London.
Pervaiz Ealhi was flanked by Dr Azeemuddin Zahid Lakhvi and Mian Munir.
