CHITRAL: Food items were distributed among the flood-affected people of Ursoon village here on Tuesday which had been dispatched by Frontier Corps inspector general.

The village was hit by flash floods, last week, killing 31 persons and rendering homeless about 100 families.

Wing commander of 144 wing of Chitral Scouts Lt-Col Aftab Ali Khan gave away the food items to the flood victims in the presence of elected representatives of local bodies in Naghar village.

On the occasion, Aftab Ali assured the flood-hit people that Chitral Scouts would leave no stone unturned in their complete rehabilitation.

An official of Chitral Scouts told Dawn that 2,500 kilogramme of wheat flour, 1,000 kg each of sugar, rice and pulses, 1,000 litres of cooking oil, 500 kg of tea and 2,000 bottles of mineral water and fruit juice were distributed among the affected people.

Speaking on the occasion, councillor Raz Mohammad eulogised the efforts of Chitral Scouts in the rescue and relief phase of the disaster when the civil administration faltered.
