KARACHI: Aqeel Khan and Talha Zubair Surmawala moved into the final by defeating Parbat Kumar and Ibrahim Iltifat resepctively in the first Ebrahim Merchant Memorial Ranking Tennis Championship here at Karachi Club on Friday.

In men’s singles semi-final, Aqeel Khan defeated Parbat Kumar 6-0, 6-0 while Talha Surmawala outplayed Ibrahim Iltifat 6-2,6-1.

Similarly, in the U-15 semis, Nouman Aftab beat Amin Shafi 6-4, 6-0 and Zubair Raja won against Mujahidullah 6-2, 7-5.

In the U-13 quarter-finals, Rayyan Jawwad outwitted Mohammad Yahya 7-5, 1-6, 10-4 while in the U-11 semis, Hamad Khan outsmarted Ashar Mir 8-6 and Zain Mohammad Ali beat Abdullah Imran 8-0.

In the U-35 doubles semis, Asad Ali Bhagat and Zulfiqar defeated Raza Ali Mirza and Manzar 6-4, 6-2.

Kaleem Ghachi and Hassan Mehmood won over Tahir Ifthikar and Ali Bhagat respectively 6-1, 6-2.

In the 45-doubles semis, Altaf Hussain and M Abdul Saeed defeated the pair of Humayun and Ejaz Sarhadi 6-3, 6-4.

In the men’s doubles semis, Hassan Mehmood and Zubiar Raja outsmarted Fahad Khan and Saad Ahmed 6-4, 6-0 while Dawar and Asad Khan beat Ibrahim Iltifat and Hassan Farooq 6-0, 4-6, 10-7.
