ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday nominated Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Raja Farooq Haider to lead the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government as prime minister.

During a meeting with the newly elected members of the AJK Legislative Assembly in Islamabad, Nawaz Sharif congratulated all party members for running a successful election campaign and nominated Raja Farooq Haider as the premier.

PML-N emerged as the single largest party in the AJK elections, winning 31 seats in the 41 members Legislative Assembly.

Haider, who secured majority in constituency LA-28 of Hattian Bala district, also heads the party's AJK chapter.

Talking to media after the PM's announcement, Haider said his agenda as the AJK premier would be good governance, acting upon merit and zero tolerance for corruption.
