LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Thursday appointed former Olympians, Saeed Khan and Mohammad Usman, as the manager and coach respectively for the national women’s side.

Their immediate international assignment is the fourth Women’s Asian Hockey Federation Cup in Bangkok, Thailand, from Oct 1 to 9.

Saeed was a member of two World Cup-winning teams in 1978 and 1982. He was the Pakistan coach when the national side last won the World Cup in 1994 when Usman was also a member of that victorious squad.

Usman has been serving as the coach of the national women’s side since 2012.

They will be observing the performance of the players during the 29th National Women’s Hockey Championship at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad from Aug 5 to 12.
