LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will be organising the first-ever 9-a-side floodlight tournament at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium in Karachi from Aug 5 to 14.

After the success of the OGDCL 5-A-Side tournament held in Lahore during last Ramzan, it is hoped that the 9-a-side event will also attract hockey lovers, a PHF spokesman said on Friday.

Meanwhile, for smooth conduct of the event, the PHF has appointed a technical officials’ panel comprising Mansoor Ahmed (tournament director), Rehan Butt, Mohammad Akram, Haider Hussain and Irshad Haider (assistant tournament directors).

The PHF has also named following individuals as the tournament officers: Kashif Farhan, Ejaz Khokhar, Azeem Khan, Rasool Janwari, Zaheer Ahmed, Kamran Ali, Tariq Ali Khan, Dr Abdul Majid, Akhtar, Adnan Ashraf, Ejaz Ahmed, Rafique Khan, Tariq Sheikh, Allah Dad, Sheikh Haroon, Javaid Sadiq and Moeed Khan.

Mohsin Ali Khan will be the umpires manager, while Zulfiqar Hussain will act as the assistant umpires manager.

Umpires Abdul Mannan, Shahid Pervaiz, Shahid Ahmed, Mahmood Ali, Haroon Rasheed, Sohail Akram Janjua, Waqas Ahmed Butt, Yasir Khursheed and Amir Hamza Khan will supervise the matches.

Qamar Zia and Kamran Ashraf are chairman and secretary of the organising committee, respectively.
