PESHAWAR: An Intelligence Bureau (IB) inspector was shot dead by unknown assailants in what police called a targeted killing in the Wazir Bagh area on Monday.
Unidentified gunmen opened fire on IB Inspector Usman Gul near a Christian graveyard in Wazir Bagh at around 9:15am while he was walking to work, killing him on the spot, Senior Sub-Inspector Police (SSP) Operations Abbas Najeeb Marwat said.
A boy passing by was also seriously injured by firing. He was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Although the area was cordoned off soon after the attack, the assailants succeeded in fleeing, police said.
"We are investigating the incident," SSP Marwat said.

How long this killing of innocent pakistani citizens will go on? Why its going on for decades. Many VIPs have all the protection paid by tax payers. Why there is no protection for average person on street. Why some VIP's are so eager to protect their goons, criminals and gangsters. Since police system has not been able to stop the high crime rate, why not give rangers a free hand to catch many criminals making life miserable for citizens of Pakistan all over the country. Whats the reasoning for protecting many criminals and crime rate continues regardless who is in-charge?

It's unfortunate that no one is ever held responsible for the security situation in the country in general and in the KPK in specific where police performance and leadership is much amplified by I.K. He has given police free hand but there's no accountablility. The I.G.P should be held responsible and sacked like in any developed nation. You'd immediately notice the change when people at the top fear for their job, performance will excel from top to bottom!
