CHITRAL: Five suspected terrorists were killed by security forces during a pre-dawn operation in the pasture of Bumburate valley of Kalash on Wednesday.

Security officials told Dawn that the operation had been carried out on the basis of intelligence about intrusion into the valley of terrorists from Afghanistan’s Nuristan province.

During the exchange of fire that continued for about an hour, all the five militants were killed while a security man suffered minor injuries.

The terrorists killed were aged between 22 and 30 with long beard and tall and stout physique and it is yet to be established whether they were Afghans or from another country.

A group of Afghan bandits had killed two Kalash shepherds in Bumburate pasture on Friday and taken away about 400 goats.
