RIP..wonderful actress and director.
Very inadequate tribute to her. Look like writer doesn't have anything to say about her landmark career except pictures.
She star in many hit films including Devdas, Doraha, Humraz. However, Qaidi, Chingari, Naila, Aag Ka Darya (1966), Lakhon Mein Eik (1967), Saiqa (1968) and Salgirah were landmarks in her career securing her a position as the top actress of the 1960s in Lollywood.
In 1976, for the first time, she directed film Jeo Aur Jeenay Do (1976). Later she also directed a highly successful movie at the box-office, a Diamond Jubilee film Munda Bigra Jaye (1995).[5] Some famous films she directed include Playboy (1978), Bhool, Miss Hong Kong (1979), Miss Singapore (1985), Miss Colombo (1984), Lady Smuggler (1987), Lady Commando (1989), Aakhri Mujra (1994), Baita, Haathi Mere Saathi (1993), Munda Bigra Jaye (1995), Hum To Chaley Susral (1996), Miss Istanbul (1996), Hum Kisi Say Kum Nahin (1997), and Love 95 (1996). I read the entire article as well as all comments. what is surprising nobody mentioned her beautiful movie Saheli. it was a movie so perfectly made that even if you watch it now you really admire all aspects of this movie. I wish Shamim Ara's acting in Saheli could be shown to new comers so that cod learn how to act.

Shamim Ara, what an actress, legends are made like her. From Naila, Lakhon mein Aik to Salgirah, Hamraz, Saheli, Saiqa, Parai Aag, suhag, Dil Mera Dharkan Teri, Doraha... Angaray, she never failed! Later on she gave us excellent directorial ventures like Playboy, Miss Singapore etc. Surely a treasure to be preserved all of her work.

@M. Emad . This is not correct that Shamim Ara's films were liked only by the"Urdu-speaking" segment of viewers. She was adored by all those movie-goers who liked Urdu films whether those were of Shamim Ara or Sabiha, Musarrat Nazir, Zeba, Deeba, Rani
, Nayyar Sultana, Neelo, etc, etc. These movie stars and their movies were popular all over Pakistan. I saw most of these films in Quetta, Peshawar and Nowshera. Please do not create divisions among movie buffs.
