LARKANA, Dec 1: The minister of state for agriculture, Sikandar Hayat Bosan, has said that the government was considering to reactivate the Pakistan Rice Board and the Sindh government would be asked to revive the Sindh Seed Corporation.

Speaking at a meeting of growers and officers at Rice Research Institute in Dokri on Monday, he said that it was discouraging that the Sindh Seed Corporation had been closed while the Punjab Seed Corporation was giving good results.

The minister said that the agriculture department had been put under the administrative control of district Nazims under the devolution of power plan.

He urged the growers to contact Nazims so that the agriculture extension wing and other related branches could be reactivated and the funds lying with the district government could be utilized.

Earlier, Sindh Balochistan Rice Mills and Traders Association chief Gada Hussain Mahesar, briefing the minister, criticized the poor performance of the agriculture department.
