CHOLERA is an acute diarrhoeal disease. It is caused by consumption of food or water contaminated with bacterium vibriocholerae. This disease kills within hours if left untreated.

However, according to WHO, there are three to five million cases and 100,000 to 120,000 deaths occur every year worldwide.

Furthermore, people in areas where there is a problem of water and sanitation are vulnerable to this disease.

However, this disease can be controlled by solving water and sanitation problem. To be safe from the disease, pure water should be used, hands should be properly washed. If any case occurs, immediately contact a doctor and use prescribed medicines.

Finally, the authorities concerned should take steps to provide potable water pure to people and set up medical facilities for everyone.
