“When I cleared my intermediate exams in computer science subjects, I was very fond of mobile phones. That was the time when the mobile phone industry was starting to grow in Pakistan, in the early 2000s.
I wanted a mobile phone as well; I used to read about mobile phones and discuss them with friends, but I was still unable to get a decent mobile phone myself. I thought, if I learn the technique of repairing mobile phones I would not only earn some money but could also have more than one set.
But at the time my father told me that the field had no future. He said if I really wanted to earn money and stand on my own feet, he would help me. That’s what he did eventually. He invested in me, and my brother and I opened a cosmetics shop. Now, 10 years later I can see that my father was right, and I have my own shop now. I can buy as many mobile phones as I want now.
I can say I worked hard at my business, and not only supported my family but also helped my friends and people who were in need.”
