ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad magistrate on Saturday handed over custody of the Move on Pakistan chairman to the Secretariat police on a three day physical remand, in a case related to controversial banners displayed in various cities including the capital.

Secretariat police registered an FIR on July 14 against the party’s chairman Mohammad Kamran and two of his aides, Ali Raza and Asif Iqbal, for displaying banners inviting the chief of army staff to take over.

The police produced Mr Kamran before duty magistrate Salman Badar, and sought his physical remand.

They told the court they needed physical custody of the suspect in order to investigate the matter and locate his runaway accomplices.

The duty magistrate granted a three day physical remand and asked the police to produce him before the court after the remand expires.
