BANGKOK: Pakistan’s rapid progress in netball and its efforts in holding regular events to popularise the sport were appreciated by the house at the Asian Netball Federation’s annual general meeting held in Bangkok this week.

Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) president Mudassar Razak Arain represented the country at the meeting where he formally presented Pakistan’s official bid for the 2018 Asian Netball Championship. However, in the end, Singapore won the bid by securing seven votes while Pakistan got four votes and Sri Lanka two.

Mudassar also presented a detailed account of PNF activities in Pakistan and the efforts for the promotion of the game. The ANF assured PNF of full cooperation in further development of netball in Pakistan, especially at the grassroot level.

Meanwhile, the Asian Youth Netball Championship 2017 was allotted to the Korea Netball Association and will be held from May 15. It was also decided at the ANF moot that each country will be allotted Level-I coaching and umpiring courses.
