Google has finally entered the food market in India with a bang.

The tech giant now allows users to make reservation or delivery orders straight from the Google search option.

'Feeling like having some Tandoori chicken from 21 Guns Salute in Gurgaon? Or wanting to book a table at Toit in Bangalore? Now you can do both right from Google search. From today, when people search for a nearby restaurant on their phone, they’ll see an option to “Place an order” in the search results. Just tap that and choose your favourite delivery service like Zomato or Swiggy and you’ll be taken to their website to complete the order,' Google said in a blog post.

Google has partnered with Zomato and Swiggy for deliveries and Bytplus and Dineout for reservations. The services are functional on both the Google app for Android or iOS devices and Google search.

The move adds to a series of strategic endeavours to integrate itself into India's huge market. Earlier this year, Google linked itself with driving services Ola and Uber.

“When you search for directions using the latest version of Google Maps on your mobile, we’ll show you a dedicated tab with information for cab services-in addition to the existing driving, public transport, or walking options,” Google said.
