Edhi: the man, the legacy

This is with reference to the cover story “Edhi: the man, the legacy” by Yasmin Elahi (YW, July 16). It was a very inspirational article about how Edhi had spent his life. Sadly, this great humanitarian has passed away but I am optimistic that his mission will continue. His life is the true depiction of serving humanity without wasting a single second.

It is sad that the nation has lost a great man, Abdul Sattar Edhi who was one of the great philanthropists in the world.

He was one of my favourite personalities as well. He spent his entire life in serving humanity and always motivated people to work for the poor and the needy.

May God rest his soul in peace.

I appreciate Yasmin Elahi for her efforts in compiling some facts regarding Edhi and his work for humanity. Words fail to describe such a legendary person, his hard work and his patience.

The only thing we can do for Edhi is to serve humanity and work for the needy.

Stop comparing

This is regarding the story “Stop comparing” by Syeda Armeen Nasim (YW, July 16). I agree with the writer that comparison does not help build a good personality. And to establish an identity, learning from others is right, but copying others isn’t right at all.

God has bestowed each person with various talents, it is our responsibility to bring them out and use them positively. Of course there are inabilities, as well. This is why we are all different from each other.

Making comparison does not benefit in anyway, as it discourages us. So instead of comparing yourself with others, you should get inspiration and motivation from their good deeds.

II

The story “Stop comparing” by Syeda Armeen Nasim was inspirational. We ought to strive to be the best possible versions of ourselves, not only for ourselves but for society as well.

We should commit to work hard to take care of ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually in order to groom ourselves. Nothing goes wasted, if we sleep little and work hard. Successful people are those who put in their full effort without comparing themselves with others.
