COLOMBO: Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc swelled with family pride Monday after his kid brother Brandon earned a spot in the final of the men's high jump at the Olympics.

“What a legend young cratsy... qualified for the Olympic final good boy!!! Very proud,” Starc tweeted after his 22-year-old sibling secured his spot.

Mitchell, who is currently on tour with Australia in Sri Lanka, will have to get up early to catch Brandon in the final in Rio which will begin before dawn in Colombo on Wednesday morning — the last day of the third and final Test.

The 26-year-old paceman had earlier told reporters about his pride in his brother's qualification for the games in Rio.

“I'm pretty excited and proud of the younger brother to represent his country in the Olympics,” Starc told reporters.

Starc senior was also a keen high jumper in his school days before forging his career as a cricketer.

Although Australia have had a poor tour of Sri Lanka, losing their first two Tests, Mitchell has been in hot form and took five wickets in Sri Lanka's first innings of the ongoing Test at Colombo's Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) ground.
