TOBA TEK SINGH: A team of local officials on Tuesday visited villages around Shorkot Cantonment that have been hit by waterlogging and mosquito infestation.

The team comprising Shorkot AC Amer Shahzad, Jhang DHO Dr Hafiz Ghulam Qadir, Deputy District Health Officer Dr Zafar Iqbal Handlana and PML-N MPA Khalid Ghani visited nearly a dozen villages on the direction of the prime minister. It will send its report to the PM.

The prime minister was apprised of the problem during his visit to the area on Saturday last to perform the groundbreaking of Motorway’s Shorkot-Khanewal section.

MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq told him that 80,000 acres of farmland had come under waterlogging.

He said stagnant water was an ideal ground for mosquito breeding.

The PM had directed the officials to visit the area and send him a report.
