SWABI: The federal government distributed Rs4.2 million among the families of Pakistanis stranded in Saudi Arabia through the local leaders of PML-N here on Wednesday.

In this connection, a function was held at the hujra of MPA Shiraz Khan that was attended by the families of stranded Pakistanis and PML-N workers. Each affected family in the district got Rs50,000.

Addressing on the occasion, Shiraz Khan said that federal government made all out efforts to help the Pakistanis standard in Saudi Arabia. The financial assistance was the right of the affected families, he added.

The MPA said that ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia pursued the case of the standard workers. The matter was taken up with all the officials concerned and ministries by PML-N government, he added.

“I hope that our brothers, who face great difficulties in our brotherly country Saudi Arabia, would get help from the government,” said the MPA.

Other speakers said that the stranded workers needed attention of government and continuous efforts. “The big problem is that how their families will survive and who will feed their families,” they questioned.

The members of the families of standard Pakistanis lauded the government for the assistance. They said that without government’s help it might be difficult for the poor families to resolve their problems.

KILLED: A person was killed by police in an encounter in Tehsil Razaar here on Wednesday.

Police said that they got information about the presence of some criminals in Shewa area and when they raided the area the outlaws opened firing on them. They said that the law enforcers retaliated and as a result a person was killed and his accomplices were arrested.

The killed person was identified as Shabir, a resident of Shewa village. Police registered an FIR and started investigations.
