KARACHI: The fourth Indus Pharma National Seniors and Juniors Ranking Tennis Championship will commence at the Karachi Club from Aug 27.

The tournament is be organised by the Karachi Tennis Association (KTA) in collaboration with the Sindh Tennis Association (STA) and Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTA).

All leading players will be participating in the event which carries handsome prize money of Rs50,000.

Events to be contested in the tournament which concludes on Sept 2 include boys and girls U-18 singles, U-16, U-14, U-12 and U-10 singles besides U-18 doubles and seniors 35-plus singles and doubles, seniors 45-plus doubles as well as ladies singles.

Soft tennis events will also be included in the championship with categories of open singles and juniors singles.

Qualifying rounds (if required) will be played on Aug 27 while last date of entry is Aug 25.

A daily allowance of Rs700 will be paid to players per day until the elimination stage besides travelling allowance and railway fare both ways to all main draw junior players.

Khalid Rehmani is the tournament director and referee while former Davis Cupper Khawaja Saeed Hai the president of the organising committee.
