QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has said that corruption should be eliminated to achieve the goal of development, progress and prosperity.

Elimination of corruption was not the responsibility of a single person but of the whole society, he said at a seminar organised by the National Accountability Bureau on Thursday.

“Our mission is to ensure good governance and eliminate corruption. I assure the people of Balochistan that corrupt elements would not be tolerated and corruption will be eliminated. The anti-corruption department and the chief minister’s inspection team have been made functional to control the menace,” he said.

The provincial government, he said, remained impartial in the finance department’s corruption case and the finance adviser stepped down after surfacing of the corruption case.

Mr Zehri said that the embezzled money had been recovered which would be used for the construction of a hospital in Quetta.

Vice Chancellor of the University of Balochistan Prof Javed Iqbal, former finance secretary Mahfooz Ali Khan and Balochistan NAB DG retired Major Tariq Mehmood Malik were also present.
