LAHORE: Former military dictators introduced Altaf Hussain and his party (MQM) to diminish the popularity of the Pakistan People’s Party in Sindh in general and Karachi in particular which has proven fatal for Pakistan.

This was the unanimous voice of speakers at the 55th conference organized by the Pakistan Visionary Forum to discuss Karachi’s law and order situation and its prevailing issues.

Among the speakers were SM Zafar, Qayyum Nizami, Dr Muhammad Sadiq, Jameel Bhatti, Khalid Saleem, former IB director-general retired Maj Shabbir Ahmed, Comsats adviser Dr Hasibullah, Prof Dr Mugheesuddin Sheikh, Prof Dr Atiya Syed and retired Maj Khalid Nasir.

They said both the political solution and military action against Altaf Hussain was necessary to safeguard the interest of the country.

Speakers said the army was playing a pivotal role in overcoming terror of the MQM leader which would be reflected in the next general election when people would freely elect their true representatives.

They severely condemned the statement of Altaf Hussain against Pakistan and demanded high treason trial against him without any delay.

“Governments whether political or military should always keep Pakistan’s interest supreme. The country needs such an electoral system in which small regional political parties should not be able to dictate or blackmail governments,” they said.

Speakers appreciated the military action against Altaf Hussain, particularly the patriotic role of Gen Raheel Sharif in taking steps to root out terrorists.

They extended their support to the present military leadership fighting for maintaining peace in the country.
