KARACHI, Dec 4: Gwadar District Nazim Babu Gulab has criticized the Balochistan government’s decision to cancel allotment of plots in Sanghar Housing Project.

In a message faxed to Dawn, the Nazim termed the decision ‘unwise’ and said it was contrary to the interests of business community.

According to him, the decision would affect many investors financially as they have huge amounts of money at stake in the project.

The decision is bound to affect adversely the development of Gwadar Port, he said, and added that its financial repercussions could undermine law and order also.

The Nazim urged the government to withdraw the decision of cancelling allotments of land in the Hammer Head/Koh-i-Batil forthwith.

The Sanghar Housing Project at Koh-i-Batil was launched to provide an opportunity to the residents of Gwadar and other parts of Balochistan to own residential and commercial plots at reasonable prices.

It was aimed at enabling the people benefit from the anticipated economic boost in Gwadar.

The stakeholders include general public, businessmen, investors, government official, armed forces’ personnel, politicians.

Earlier, the government had imposed a ban on the sale and purchase of private property in Gwadar. However, the Balochistan High Court, later, suspended the order.
