GUJRANWALA: The District Headquarters Hospital will have new blocks for surgery, gynaecology and paeds as PC-I of the project has been completed.

Federal Minister for Trade and Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan told Dawn the DHQ upgrade was required to meet the ever-growing number of patients visiting the hospital.

He said in the next phase neurosurgery and burn units would be added to the hospital.

The minister said work on the establishment of an engineering university in Gujranwala and exploration of Qila Mian Singh mines was about to start.

He said public complaints against the National Database and Registration Authority and passport offices, Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) and Solid Waste Management would be redressed on merit.

He said work on the Aziz flyover would be completed by Nov 30. He said a sum of Rs1.25 billion had been allocated to prepare Qila Mian Singh mines for dumping solid waste.
