QUETTA: Another patient suffering from Congo fever died at the Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital on Friday, taking the death toll to 10 in Quetta.

“The patient, identified as Rehmatullah, was brought from Loralai to Quetta four days ago. He was bleeding from the nose and mouth,” hospital sources said, adding that he was admitted to the isolation ward in a critical condition.

A woman died from heavy bleeding last week, after she was brought to the hospital from Afghanistan.

“Eighty patients bleeding from the nose and mouth were brought to the Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital this year and out of them 23 tested positive,” said Dr Mukhtiar, the hospital’s spokesman.

He said that 10 patients suffering from the virus had died. Sixty per cent patients were brought to the hospital from Afghanistan and the remaining from Balochistan.
