KHUZDAR: Two women and two children were killed and three others injured when a wire from a high-po­wer transmission line fell on them near the Wadah area of Khuzdar district on Monday.

According to Levies officials, the incident took place when the victims were taking out water from a pond in the Javedabad Lohi area of Wadah tehsil.

“Two women and two young children died,” a senior Levies officer told Dawn, adding that two other women and a man suffered serious burn injuries.

Levies and personnel of other law-enforcement agencies shifted the bodies and the injured to a government hospital in the area.

Later, the bodies were handed over to families and the injured were taken to the government teaching hospital in Khuzdar.

The deceased were identified as Rukhsana, Kosar, Muhammad Imran, 12, and Tanveer Ahmed, 11. The injured were Amna, Nasima and Hamad Ahmed.

The Khuzdar district administration has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
