LAHORE: Participants in a steering committee here on Monday sought removal of all sorts of ‘bottlenecks’ in the way of early completion of the Bahawalpur University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) project.

“The pace of work on the project must be expedited. And utmost efforts must be taken to remove the bottlenecks in the project,” MPA Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood Jajja, a committee member, said while speaking on the occasion.

It was the second meeting of the steering committee on the establishment of the university held here at UVAS.

Dean Faculty of Life Sciences and Business Management Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad, Superintending Engineer (Bahawalpur) Shahid Kamal, Additional Secretary (Planning, Livestock and Dairy Development Punjab) Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood and Deputy Secretary (Finance) Ms Sumaira Farooq attended the meeting.

Project Director Dr RizwanYousaf briefed the committee members on the project and the bottlenecks being faced in the development work. The participants were of the view that the committee must monitor the project closely and take up all the issues with the departments concerned.

Meanwhile, the UVAS department of parasitology organised a public seminar on Congo fever. Assistant Professor Dr Muhammad Oneeb delivered a lecture on the topic of Crimean Congo Hemorragic Fever (CCHF) in which he spoke about its transmission and control measures.

Many experts from parasitology department spoke on the occasion and answered different questions regarding Congo fever. Students and faculty members attended the seminar.

PU: Newly-elected members of the Punjab University Senate and principals and teachers from various colleges of the province called on PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran here on Monday.

Registrar Prof Dr Liaquat Ali, Law College Principal Dr Shazia Naureen Qureshi, PU Academic Staff Association General Secretary Dr Mahboob Husain and others were also present on the occasion.
