CHARSADDA: Opposition and treasury members on Wednesday lambasted the education, C&W and other concerned departments for not cooperating with the elected representatives in resolving the people’s problems.

They were speaking at the district council meeting held at the newly-constructed building of Charsadda district council with its convener Musaweer Shah in the chair.

DPO Khalid Suhail, AC Noor Wali Khan, and members of treasury and opposition benches were present in the session.

District nazim Fahad Riaz Khan, opposition leader Qasim Ali Khan, Pir Rehmanullah, Haleemullah Khan, Khalid Khan Umarzai, Razia Sultana and others also spoke on the occasion.

The councillors lamented that despite passage of one year after local elections were held the elected representatives had been deprived of their due rights. They said they were yet to be given respect and proper position as promised by the provincial government.

They regretted that officials of government departments, including education, communication and works and health were not cooperating with them to solve problems of their voters.

Even the local government members were not consulted by these departments on issues of public interest, they blasted.

The councillors said they had been given the mandate to serve the masses but they were yet to be given power and resources.

They demanded the district government to provide them development funds.

On the occasion, district nazin Fahad Riaz Khan appreciated the positive role and cooperation of opposition in running the affairs of the district government. He thanked the opposition members for passage of the budget from the council. He assured the opposition members of his full cooperation and promised to provide them uplift funds.
