MARDAN: The members of district council have demanded of both federal and provincial governments to announce a compensation package for the heirs of the victims of Mardan suicide blast.

The meeting of district council was held here on Thursday that was also attended District Police Officer Faisal Shehzad. The members of both treasury and opposition benches demanded of both the federal and provincial governments to announce a package for the victims of the suicide blast on the pattern of the package announced for the lawyers of Balochistan, who were killed in similar fashion few weeks ago.

They said that the injured persons should be admitted to standard hospitals of the country or they should be sent abroad for treatment by the rulers.

District nazim Himayatullah Mayar said that entire nation and political parties should be on same page against terrorism. He paid rich tribute to the policemen, who were killed in the suicide attack on the district and session courts on Friday last.

Presenting a report regarding police performance on the occasion, the DPO said that police personnel were fulfilling their responsibilities well despite of lack of resources.

He said that eradication of crimes was impossible without cooperation of people. He said that police officials were being trained on new and modern lines.

The DPO said that nine police schools were set up in different districts of the province to train officials on reforms and new investigations system. He said that they had established ‘police assistance line’ in the district to provide more facilities to people under one roof.

The DPO said that police assistance line, set up in a building adjacent to police lines, would be inaugurated soon. Mr Shehzad said that they had 3,639 police personnel for 2.4 million population of Mardan district that were not sufficient.
